Working Toward a Better Tomorrow

Big Mama's Safe House is a faith-based, nonprofit organization focused on enriching the San Antonio area. We emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community. Bennie Price, our founder, started selling drugs at 11 years old, and by the age of 15 he was on his way to prison for murder. He was sentenced close to 100 years in prison and served 23 years. In 2012, he had a “God experience” and was given parole in 2016. The Lord gave him a vision telling him to go back to the neighborhood where he once participated in gang activity and gun violence and to build Big Mama’s Safe House. There, Mr. Price would speak the truth about the harm of gangs, gun violence and crime. He is currently working tirelessly to build safe havens for youth through capacity building and community development.  At Big Mama's Safe House, we believe "actions to speak louder than words". Established in 2021, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. We pride ourselves on education and prevention of gun and gang violence. We also provide aid to survivors of domestic and substance abuse and provide youth and adult workforce development. Those are just some of our key programs; contact us to learn more and get involved.
